I got two cracks at preaching this message, as I was asked to cover for a fellow pastor here in town who was away.  Hopefully it sounds like I had some practice.

Sermon notes 8/5/12

1. The Goal of Righteousness – v. 4

   1. End as in the finish line or goal

   2. Christ is the culmination of law and prophecy

   3. He did not make the Law void – Matthew 5:17-19

      1. He does not contradict it – Matthew 15:1-9

      2. He clarifies it – Matthew 12:1-8

2. A Nonexistent Contradiction

   1. Living by the Law – v. 5 – Leviticus 18:4-5

   2. There should be no “but” here – v. 6

   3. Living by Faith – Hab. 2:4; Dt. 30:11-14

3. Words of Life

   1. For anyone who calls – v. 11-13

   2. Deuteronomy 30:15-20; 32:45-47
